The basics of the private club industry
A club is an association of people united by a common interest or goal. There are clubs devoted to hobbies and sports, social activities clubs, political and religious clubs, and so forth.
In private clubs, members pay a certain membership fee in order to be a part of, and enjoy the facilities of the club. Usually, many clubs are exclusive to members only. This makes their membership a privilege and a luxury.
Many club managers say that the main difference between a club and a hotel is that in a hotel, you may never get to see the same person twice. However, in a club, you get to meet the same people over and over. This allows you to build lasting relationships and become part of a larger family.

Membership clubs have existed in Hong Kong since colonial times, and many are still alive and kicking today. Whether you’re into sport, sailing or wining and dining, you’re sure to find one that rings your particular bell. A lot of the larger, more popular clubs have attractive recreational facilities but they also tend to be accompanied by a lengthy waiting list for places and come at a price. Alternatively, there are smaller ones with fewer facilities who offer a host of activities and the opportunity to network and meet like-minded people.
